Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Surprisingly awesome cafe for a little podunk town. They serve the usual- breakfast and lunch items along with some pastries. But what I was most impressed by was the fresh juice they offer. Not a lot of green options (I like loads of leaves in my juice) but they have beets, wheatgrass, carrots and all sorts fruits and veggies. It's so refreshing to find 1) a place that makes fresh juice and 2) to find a place that makes options besides the typical apple and orange juices. I was pretty much floored. Other than that, this place is pretty typical in menu offerings. The locals seems nice. Parking is a bit of a hassle. There are spots in front of the establishment but they fill up fast based on my two visits here, which leaves you with street parking on a relatively busy street (not my favorite thing to do). And the parking spots that are there are oriented rather strangely. You can only drive into the spots (front end first) and it you can only back out when you exit (again, the cafe is on busy street so this can be a hassle). Ugh-- I hate the parking there. But if you can manage that, this is a nice place to grab a snack/drink and do some work for a few hours.

As much as I would like to support my local home-town eatery/coffee shop, I cannot. I was there just this past Monday evening and it did not meet my expectations. First, it was very cold in there. My feet, legs were chilly! They were short on heat for sure. As for my meal; I asked for my burger to be cooked medium well-done. Well, it came to me fairly brown on the outside and too pink on the inside for my liking. It appears that the cook doesn't know how to cook but one way. I've mentioned to the waiter one other time I was in there that the trick is to cook with lots of moisture (water) and to cook it low and slow. The artichoke/potato salad was tasty, but it must of had dressing with something that didn't agree with me because I got light-headed after eating it. My dining partner asked me if I was OK. I ate half of my burger, took the other half home and will have to cook it the rest of the way myself. Unless they get someone else in there who knows how to cook their burgers, I won't be back.

This is one of the cutest cafes I've ever been to, in the middle of the cute downtown Canal Winchester. It's got a really cool atmosphere, with rustic decorations and spacious seating. On the Friday night I went, it seemed to be the gathering place of the middle aged hipsters of the town. The latte I got was very good, but I will admit the service was not the best. Most of the employees did not seem very happy to be there, and did not make much of an effort to be welcoming to guests.

From past experience, I know they have good food and drinks, but the manager is surprisingly rude. Do not dare go there for just a latte with a friend--you must also order food, or you will be asked to leave. My husband and friend and I were chatting over coffee in the middle of the afternoon, at a respectful noise level--I'm really not sure what attracted her to our table. But, the manager approached our table and pointedly asked us of we were planning on ordering food, I said no but we ordered coffee motioning to our 4$ lattes, and she informed us they "are a restaurant", and that she needs the tables for customers who order food. We didn't argue, but were embarrassed and grabbed our things and left promptly. I have never experienced such treatment at a place that claims to be a cafe before. Really, I've never experienced such treatment before, period.

I liked the staff they are very friendly. I enjoyed the small town feel and the cute store within the restaurant. I was however very unhappy with my second visit. I ordered a bison burger well done, what I got was a very pink burger. I called and explain the error, I came back and cut open my burger to again find a very under cooked burger. At this point I refused to go back, the manager said we will fix whenever you come back again. I went in today and called again and very clearly expressed the problem in the past and what I wanted....yuck very pink again. They tried to comp my comped burger... No way!!!! Please get a thermometer or take ground meat off the menu.

The food is mediocre, the service is slow, the food takes forever, the food isn't cooked to order, and it's jokingly overpriced.

We love the ambiance of this little joint. It can get pretty loud when they have live music, but it's usually not too crowded. The menu changes according to what they can get locally. Love love love the wagyu burger with potato salad.

Harvest Moon used to be one of my favorites, but I can honestly say that once they switched over to more of a "sit-down" cafe, the food and service has gotten worse. You wait a long time for your food. I am usually ok with this as long as the food is good. The food is just ok. I appreciate the healthier options and veggie/vegan friendly subsitutions, but with a bigger menu the quality has gone down. I also didn't appreciate having to go with a drip coffee I didn't really want (and that ended up being pretty cold) just because they ran out of the one I wanted and didn't feel like making a fresh pot. I will say that our server on this particular evening was nice and attentive. They seem to have spent more time coming up with cocktails than improving the quality of the food sent out. If you want to be a bar... be a bar.

Harvest Moon offers good beer and good food. Unfortunately, as several recent reviews attest, the service is lacking. Today my food was cold but my server was MIA and returned to my table for the first and only time after I forked my last bite. Similarly, I witness another employee inform the manager that the TV was on but the Uverse message prompted the user to select "OK" to display the picture. The manager's response was "umph" so it was inoperative when I left 30 minutes later. I often encourage friends to give HM a try but my enthusiasm is beginning to wane. An excellent alternative is Shade on the Canal where more customer centric employees offer much better service and comparable food quality.

We finally stopped in after talking about it for months and had an awesome lunch. Our boozy coffees were strong and tasty and our lunches were super filling and of very high quality. My mate got the Southwestern chicken panini- which she very much loved- she raved about the combination of the spice on the sandwich, the super fresh bread and the homemade ranch on the side. I got the black bean burger, and while it wasn't the best I've had, it was a huge portion and an interesting mix (almost like a very thick hummus- with cashews in it, too, which is different). Unique things: You can get gluten-free bread for most of the sandwiches, they have a gluten-free cake of the day, and their burgers are all bison rather than beef, and they're open until 11 pm on Friday & Saturday. Prices were extremely reasonable and service was super friendly and quite efficient. It's maybe 3 minutes from the highway, 5 minutes from the mega-mess stuff at the Canal Winchester highway exit and offers plenty of parking. The little shop on the side had some cute stuff and a nice assortment of local product. We look forward to going back!

Harvest Moon Cafe stays a 5 star winner in my book! I finally made it back here for the Veggie Burger I had wanted so bad yesterday for lunch. Canal WInchester was having the Blues & Ribs Festival on the same street, which on a whole other note was horrible, def NOT the same as the one in Columbus. I don't get down here often so I was more than happy to see they were open and not as busy. The owner was friendly as can be again giving everyone alot of face time and genuinly glad to be there. I got the veggie burger which at $9 came with a side salad with their light house vinagrette and tasted perfectly fresh, healthy and a great pairing with the burger. This was fantastic, huge, almost tasted tacolike with cheese, lots of sprouts, a fresh guacamole and I added a superb tasting asperagus pesto as well. In all this has got to be added to my top 3 veggie burgers in Columbus. What a shame it is so far out there, I would stop by here all the time. It's right up there with Northstar and 3rd & Hollywood but local and indipendant which makes it even better! What a great way to start the day!

This was my second visit to HM. I can't remember what I had last time, but glad I remembered to review this join, this time. I'm an urban girl, thus I love the town life. Inside, the feeling of "down home" is all around. The food and alcohol served here is awesome. For instance: bison burger; grass-fed beef burgers; wraps; curative salads. Many wines to choose from, too (a lot of which are local!!). This time round, I ordered a salmon sandwich on a croissant (greens, bacon, and a touch of mayo). The waitress was polite and friendly - knew the menu, too :) The sandwich was great. The cold salmon tasted wonderful - not too overpowering! The croissant was lightly toasted, but still soft and flaky. A great lunch!

If I could choose to go anywhere for lunch- HM Cafe is the place! The veggie wrap & salads are my favorite. I also love their frappe's. The owners are there every time I go in, they are very friendly, welcoming and nice. You can tell the owners, chefs & servers are very passionate. Thank you. We of course will be back!

A collegue of mine that is into health and good food spoke highly of this place. I had to go to Lancaster for work so on my way home I decided to stop in solo for dinner. So glad I did. Nice to have another place to come eat that we can feel good about the food we put into our bodies. If you like Northstar cafe, Knead, and places like it then you will like it here as well. Pros: They use local meat and egg from Blystone Farm a few miles down the road They sell an all grass-fed bison burger (not local but superb quality) They have fresh juices and smoothies Hello delicious dessert selection from local bakeries Organic coffees Large selection of beer/cocktails that sounded delish Food was good! Cons: -Didn't love the seating choices. Not a place I would want to stay awhile. The seats are all hard wooden chairs...no cozy booths or couches/chairs. -Would have liked a little more organic produce on menu. I got a fresh juice (fruits and roots) but it wasn't organic. They said they use as much local from the Farmers market when in season. -They don't use local dairy and I don't understand why they don't.(Snowville creamery/Hartzlers..hello?) They said they get their dairy from Meijer...ummmm ok? Price was right for quality of food What I ordered: Fruits and roots fresh juice-Not organic but very tasty. When I try this blend at home all I taste is roots but they have a nice balance of apple to "roots". Cup of the veggie bisque soup of the day- Very nicely balanced between the slightly sweet and creamy tomato base and chunky bites of veggies (kale, celery, mushorom) Gyro special with potato salad in place of kettle chips ($1.50 up charge..fyi) - Potato salad was perfect. Nice firm red potatos, bits of celery, bits of onion, and not too much mayo. Gyro meat was on dry side and not thinly sliced like a typical gyro. Not at all gamey and well seasoned. Honestly, I prefer the texture and taste of my favorite gyro from Mykonos (in Gahanna) but would choose this when possible becasue of the quality of the meat. All I know about the lamb from Mykonos is that its from Australia (which is known for high quality lamb) but I don't know about the lambs welfare. I love supporting local happy lamb meat. The tatziki sauce was decent. A little watery and lacked come acid but not over powering with dill or cucumber and to too much feta either. Lemon cake and a cappuccino - It was delish. Creamy yet light and fluffy...sweet but not too sweet and just enough lemon flavor. Also a great cappuccino. ALSO to go I brought my hubby home the black bean burger with potato salad and a slice of gluten free choc cake. Burger- excellent. Thick and "meaty". Lots of southwestern flavors and well seasoned guac on top. It came with cheese but with the guac it didn't even need it...next time would get it without cheese. The cake was fantastic too. Didn't miss the wheat in it at all. Can't wait to go back on a date night and try some cocktails and a bison burger. P.s- Natural Dr.Bronners soap and lotion in ladies restroom :) Cost of all of the above WITH $7.00 tip was $52.00

Great dinner, excellent service, good beer selection, yummy looking menu of mixed drinks! Sounds great, right? They only lack some more comfortable seating! Our table had tilapia, bison, organic chicken and the harvest beet salad. All well prepared, beautifully presented and in the case of the bison steak carefully cooked to order. Delightful evening with friends, one of the best waitresses we've had in a long time! Will definitely go back!

I'm a city girl through and through. I openly admit that I make some assumptions about the 'burbs like, all the restaurants are big chains and the food comes from a freezer or a bag. And yes, those places are out there. However, every once in awhile, serendipity strikes. And it hit square on the Harvest Moon Cafe in downtown Canal Winchester. I am a soup and salad freak AND a major foodie. There is not a recipe that I won't tweak or try to improve. I can tell you this much, the bowl of French onion soup I had today was heavenly perfection. Wouldn't change a thing. The vegan soup I tried last week was also great, along with the Farfalle Pesto Pasta side I had. OK, in the spirit of full disclosure, I'd add butter or meat to most vegan stuff because that's how I roll, but that's not a reflection of the culinary talent of the Harvest Moon staff. They have a small but eclectic, well executed menu dedicated to using great ingredients. They have baked goods, full coffee and cocktail bar with seasonal offerings, a nice patio and an obvious commitment to this community. They even have a small natural food and health store in the cafe! If you're in the 'hood of Downtown Canal, you have to stop by this place. Always trust a chubby girl when it comes to food. UPDATE: After my rave review, I thought I better make sure Harvest Moon lived up to my standards consistently. I've been back a few times - tried the Loaded Potato Soup. Absolutely wonderful, warm, filling, comforting, rich, thick and hearty. Also tried the turkey, green apple sandwich with homemade honey mustard. It was the perfect blend of crunchy, savory, tangy and sweet complimented by good grainy bread. Next up, Bison Chili with black beans. The flavors were spot on, there was a smoky, sweet and spicy, meatiness that I loved. It was also a thinner, more broth-y like soup version than we are used to in the Midwest (vs. thick, stew-like chili) that really appealed to me. I didn't feel weighed down after eating a bowl. My Only Suggestion for Improvement is to offer a few standard sides so people can boost up their meal. Like: A small side salad, the small cup of hummus or ranch dressing with a handful of fresh veggies and whatever featured sides. If I come in for a bowl of soup, I don't want a full sandwich with chips AND soup but I'd pay for an extra side or two in a minute. A couple of times, you were out of the side. This is where the few standards would help. Bonus - these sides use product you already have, at a minimum cost. That's my update and I'm sticking with the five stars!

Having read some of the reviews citing rude and slow service, we found the service prompt and attentive when we visited for breakfast. Jared did an excellent job as our server. I had the farmstead omelette and my wife had the heavenly hotcakes. The omelette was made with good ingredients and there was plenty of it, except there was little sign of the white cheese mentioned in the menu, which might have acted to bind the ingredients and mingle the flavors better. So it was a good omelette, but not a special one. My wife found the pancakes delicious, the combination of lemon, ricotta and lavender quite exquisite. The espresso shot was excellent, the regular coffee average. Things the cafe could improve upon - The metal chairs are FRIGID and cushions would be nice instead of having to sit on your coat. Also, it would be wonderful to have one of the two doors LOCKED SHUT now that the cold weather is here. With doors opening at both ends of the restaurant, the place stays chilly. More vegetarian options would be a real plus; not everyone cares for bacon.

Been there a few times. Sometimes just to get a coffee to go. The wait is always over 5 minutes. Way to long when you are in a hurry. Staff is not friendly, not clean. I believe this could be a great place if they had a good manager.

I've stopped by Harvest Moon several times over the last few years. It's a quaint little corner spot in a quaint little town. The cocktails are consistently great although the cocktail menu is very limited. The food & wait staff are not so good. The food sounds delicious but it takes forever to come out and then it's usually on the coolish side, dry and an obvious reheat in a microwave. I'd complain to management but, they are never in the building! Sad, sad, sad. It you're tempted to eat here - don't; run, don't walk, over to Village Wines and have some fresh food served by friendly wait staff.

Tried the Harvest Moon Cafe a couple of weeks ago, after reading reviews on Yelp! I stopped in after work to order something to go, and decided upon the turkey bacon ranch wrap. It was very good - I loved the homemade ranch dressing. You can choose to have bagel chips with hummus, kettle chips, or a special salad to accompany your sandwich; I wasn't offered the bagel chips with hummus, otherwise, I would have chose those! I got the simple salad (upcharge), and it was so very delicious. The interior of the Harvest Moon Cafe is very special; brick walls, a dark mahogany bar (full bar), and high top tables. They also offer yummy desserts, my favorites being from the Sassafras Bakery. Parking isn't that bad, there are some spots in the front that are usually taken, but there is a side lot next to the restaurant (hardware store-side) that doesn't charge. I definitetly plan to come back to try a special, or breakfast!

Stopped in for business lunch today and glad I did. I tried "The Boss" which has grilled bison flat iron steak slices. I can say without a doubt that was the best bison I've ever had. If you've never had bison, this should be your next stop!

I had lunch there and found so many appealing items on the menu, it was hard to decide. The southwestern wrap was awesome, everything fresh. A little pricey, but delicious. It felt good eating a meal with nothing fried, dripping with fat.

Great small coffee shop with organic coffee. They keep organic coffee on tap (only shop around that I know that does) and they sell the beans whole or they grind them for you in the store. Coffee is one of those items that you want organic due to the quantity of pesticide that are used when growing it (if you care). I sometimes do business meetings here, Armed2Defend.com , and they are ok with you just hanging out. I usually do buy at least a coffee. It is a great place to meet at, not too loud and laid back enough to make it welcoming. I haven't tried their food yet, but they have a good menu. They also have a "health food" store where you can buy specialty items including allergy and gluten free items. We have multiple food allergies so this type of a store is a necessity.

I have always wanted to try Harvest Moon since it's ten minutes from my house and I'm always hearing rave reviews about their food, coffee, etc. However, my first experience which occurred last night, will be my last experience. My four friends and I were seated and immediately asked what we wanted to drink without even having glanced at the menu. You could tell that our server wasn't very excited to be there, nor was she pleasant. She brought our drinks out and then took our order. Our food took over thirty minutes to arrive and in the meantime, not once did our server stop and ask if we wanted reflls, etc.. We also ordered appetizers and those came out when our food did. She brings our food out, puts in the on table and proceeds to walk away. She doesn't even bother to ask how everything looks. My roast beef sammich had onions on it (which I had requested not be there), my bun was hard as a rock, there were no toppings, and my roast beef was cold. My girlfriends salad had ingredients in it which she requested be removed. After a few minutes, I don't see the server, so I walk up to the bar and ask that my sandwich be remade as well as the salad my gf ordered. Both arrived once our other two friends had finished their food. During this time, she never stopped back by to say anything, offer refills, etc.. Finally, she brought the food out and again, my sandwich is cold, there are no toppings and bun is hard as a rock. By this time, I'm too hungry and annoyed so I just shove it away. My gf ate her salad and my friends, ate their food, but none of them were impressed with what they had ordered. By the time our bill arrived, she didn't bother to ask about the sandwich, or our experience, just dropped the bill and walked away. You normally leave your card/cash at the table and she'll swing by and pick it up, but I was fired up, so I walked up to the bar and had the cashier/barista check us out. I made mention of the sandwich and service, and the server happened to walk by. She just stopped, looked at me, and sauntered away. For two waters, a salad and a sandwich, my bill was almost $24. I realize they use local food, blah blah blah, but give me a break. There are dozens of restaurants within a 15 mile radius that use the same concept. Needless to say, my Taco Bell I ordered 10 minutes later was faster, tasted better, and made to order. I'm very disappointed in the service and food.

I used to frequent this place on a daily basis. I would get my morning coffee here and would bring my wife and children here or get take out for them for lunch or dinner at least once a week. My wife and I both had to work late tonight. I called at 840 to place at take out order and Samuel, indignantly, asked if realized they closed in twenty minutes. I last time I checked twenty minute was plenty for a take out order. I cannot stand laziness when it comes to spending my money at a business. I will no longer frequent this business. Das kaffeehaus is just as good of coffee and closer to my house

Stopped in for lunch on a workday, ordered the black and bleu salad (100% grass fed bison) which the server recommended and was advertised throughout the store- they were out of it. So I ordered the salmon salad, which I assumed would be a grilled filet of salmon- nope, my order came out 5 min later- salmon was cold straight out of a can. The pressed juice was very good. The wait staff was good. It was about 90 degrees in the restaurant which made it very uncomfortable.

Service was just plain terrible. We were in on a Saturday early afternoon. It was not terribly busy, as there were multiple tables open. It took forever to even put in our drink order. Waited forever to get our drinks. Waited forever to put in our order. Waited forever for our food. Food was decent. It was just frustrating to sit and wait for so long. I will not be in the mood to return anytime soon.

They just finished redecorating their interior so it is now a nice comfortable coffee shop, serving great sandwiches. Haven't tried lots of their menu, but I love the Turkey and apple sandwiches, fresh ingredients, right portion, right at the money too. Like other small business coffee shop in a small town, the environment is friendly and perfect for hanging our or reading books.

My college friends and I happened to meet up for a long weekend in Canal. We wanted to get breakfast and coffee before heading our separate ways. We opted for brunch at Harvest Moon before parting ways. The coffee was good. I enjoyed a large Americano along with the Across the Boarder burrito which was recommended by Charlene K in a previous review. It was a nice set up and we had decent service. The only thing I miss having is the stage. It used to be the place to go to hear some great local music.

Really enjoy going to this awesome establishment. Since the new owners took over a year ago they have really turned it into a foodies establishment. From the awesome steel cut oatmeal to the Philly cheese steak sandwich they are rocking on all cylinders. Highly recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I were driving to Columbus on a Sunday and were searching desperately for someplace to stop along the way. We thought we were going to have to settle for something gross like breakfast at McDonald's. But no, like an oasis, we stumbled upon Harvest Moon. It was excellent!! I had the heavenly hotcakes (lemon-ricotta pancakes with lavender-infused maple syrup and a side of sage turkey sausage). They were indeed "heavenly": light, fluffy and delicious. My boyfriend had the across the border burrito (eggs, avocado, black beans, provolone, salsa, and sour cream). It must have been good because it was gone after I blinked my eyes a few times! We both ordered lattes and they were delicious as well. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very nice: Good music and good lighting. The only problem we encountered was when the person who brought out the food gave my pancakes to the wrong table. She quickly apologized and brought another order back out to me soon. Good job Harvest Moon Cafe! We'll definitely be back.

Reasons to check it out: It has a health / herb / wine shop inside in addition to coffee / food. Very tasty with a well developed menu. The better, local alternative to Starbucks.

Went there this evening with my girlfriend and her 2 year old. When we walked in the waitress told us to sit anywhere, but unfortunately they only had a high top with very wobbly seats. They must not have many families come cause they never even offered a high chair or booster, so that was annoying. When the waitress finally came back, I ordered a coke, and she ordered a water for her and her kid, what we got was a water and two cokes. Before we could tell her she didn't order that she was gone again. We finally got her attention again to get her water and tell her we didn't order the coke, to which she ignored that part and asked for our order. We got the bison mozzarella trio as a app, 2 burgers and potatoes for the kid. 20 minutes later we got the app but still no water. Finally asked again and got it. 30 minutes after that we got our meal. Good burger, but the chips tasted like they were from GFS . When we got the bill we ended up getting charged for the extra coke, but by that time I just wanted out!! The bill was just shy of $40 and we left still hungry. And to add insult to injury it seemed like the AC was off and there were flies everywhere. NEVER AGAIN!!

Though it's located out in the 'burbs, Harvest Moon is easily accessed from the southern and eastern ends of the Columbus sprawl. Found in nifty Canal Winchester, the place is homey enough. There are several tables and some comfy couches as well. The Wi-Fi is free -- even to non-customers. Now for the goods. The coffee is above average. They have the usual plethora of drink options, both hot and cold. The food is pretty darn good as well...sandwiches, wraps and the like. Caveat: Teens tend to overrun the place right after school lets out.

The food here is great. I work in Canal Winchester and try to stop in here once a week. This is place is great for a sandwich, a cup of coffee, and a scone. Everything is made fresh. They've got a great burger on pretzel bun and my absolute go to is the Turkey Tango sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. It's a great local coffee shop to hang out at as well.

First time I have been back, since the herb/wine shop has merged with the coffee house. The kiddos and I found ourselves in Canal Winchester and it was dinner time and I did not want Chinese or chain fare. Dinner was awesome, fresh and healthy. They happily adjust the sandwiches to the kiddo's tastes and my salad was extra yummy. They are still under construction, but should be done soon. Worth the drive and worth checking out.

I have really tried to like this place. I want it to succeed but it just seems like every time I get food I'm disappointed. Tonight I got a to go order with a wrap and potato salad. Once again I do not believe their own chef's read the ingredients of the menu items as there was no turkey in my wrap. The potatoes were almost raw to the point where they were inedible. I am always supportive of local restaurants but I think it is time for me to say goodbye to this place and good luck. I won't be recommending to family and friends.

I had heard so many good things about this place and was suggested to go here when my internet was down and I had a project to work on. Unfortunately, so was theirs. The coffee was OK, but nothing special and the service was pretty rude. I'm not a regular there and the staff stood there and talked with a woman who must be a regular while she drank her coffee while I stood there and waited. I finally had to say something to get them to take my order. I had to move my seat twice as there were flies everywhere and I finally left out of disgust as I couldn't stand the flies landing on me and my computer every 5 minutes. There is some street parking but there is also some public parking about a block away and you can walk.

Met a few friends here yesterday for lunch. It is nice and friendly place. There are a variety of foods and baked goods to choose from. I got a Reuben sandwich. It was good, but being used to NYC style it was a little bland. There was too much kraut not enough cheese and no thousand island dressing, but mustard, so too much pickle taste I had to take most of the kraut off to taste the meat. It came with homemade hummus and bagel chips which were fabulous tasting. The coffee is where it gets 4 stars. The coffee is smooth, creamy and just delightful. I am a coffee addict. I love the taste of all kinds of coffees. It is a nice atmosphere, very well decorated, I will be back, I will just have to try something different to eat. I do not want to shoot place down over one bad sandwich. I want the coffee if nothing else.

Very good "natural" food. The Hummus & olive with pita appetizer was great. My wife and I each had one of their signature Bison burgers that were very good. Better than expected. The service is excellent. We will definitely return and try dinner. Highly recommend. Especially if you are food healthy conscious.

I found the servers to be a little overly nice and after reading some reviews after my visit they must be trying to correct the poor service stigma ASAP. One issue we did have was asking two times for a side of over-easy eggs. After they finally arrived one was overcooked. And with two eggs costing $2.25 there's no excuse for any of that. With that strike out of the way, let's move on. Their $7.25 Bloody Mary was pretty good-3 our of 5 stars. I hate it when places put a gigantic piece of celery in them. For that price perhaps a small antipasto skewer. The Heavenly Hotcakes were perfect. It's hard to mess up pancakes with lemon-ricotta in them. The Breakfast Burrito was very good. The roasted garlic aioli really brought this together. They have some vegan friendly menu options, nice cocktails and also several Ohio beers on draft. Plus a small bar you can enjoy them at. I got the Jackie O's IPA for dessert. For the area, this place is a god send. As a destination from Columbus, sure, have at it. Roughly takes on average 25 minutes to get here. Do some light antiquing, grab a Fantasy Cupcake for a treat and hop over to Buckeye Lake to check out their winery and brewery.

This place is either perfectly fine, or a miss. Unfortunately usually a miss. People around here rave about it, probably because we only have 3 restaurant options in downtown Canal Winchester and it's the only place to grab a smoothie, coffee, or a non-greasy breakfast or a healthy-ish lunch. The problem I find is Harvest Moon is never consistent with either service or food, so it's a gamble each time you go. I've been here with a group and it took forever to get our orders out and most of them were wrong, but just the other night, we had an awesome experience on the patio with a waiter named Jared who kept the beer flowing and made sure we were taken care of. He was super nice and personable. I've been here where several items on the menu are out, the meat is dry, the service staff looks at you when you walk in but no one greets you for 15 minutes, etc., but another time we had the best experience talking with one of the bartenders and had the best appetizer (the bison trio) that paired perfectly with our beer choice on his recommendation. Like I said, it's fine, or a miss. I just wish they would pick one and stick to it! :) Their happy hour prices are also lacking. Not a great deal as there are usually only two appetizers that are priced for happy hour, and $1 off of beer and cocktails make them only slightly too expensive instead of astronomical for little downtown Canal Winchester.

A gem outside of Columbus and totally worth it. I've been there for breakfast and lunch a couple times. The French toast was amazing but my favorite thing on the menu to date (that I've tried, of course) is the pear salad. On a nice day, take a little walk around downtown Canal Winchester. Cute little town with an old train station. Looking forward to returning for some cocktails and live music soon.

I love the Harvest Moon cafe!! The food is so good! The buffalo burger is the best I have ever eaten. Smoothies are delicious! The staff is fun and it's a great date night place to hang out. I have to get back there for sweet potato hash! :)

I'm really intrigued by some of the not-great reviews of this restaurant. Is the service so inconsistent? We walked into a space that wasn't "dirty and dingy" but gorgeous and completely on-trend for a farm-to-table kind of atmosphere. Our server was friendly and really helpful, giving us suggestions and explaining things as needed. My bison burger was delish and actually mostly cooked well; my companion's burger was almost raw, so yeah, there's a lot of inconsistency with burger doneness that needs to be addressed. The flavors all worked together well and I appreciated the attention to detail quite a lot: the fries, for example, were just as good as the burger (bad fries can be SUCH a letdown), and the iced tea was really good. The server offered me an iced tea to go, which was very considerate. I felt the menu was put together pretty well and everything looked tasty. The only thing that confused me was the prevalence of turkey bacon instead of bacon-bacon; the health benefits of slapping turkey bacon on a burger that is covered in aioli and a fried egg and cheese probably aren't that amazing. The turkey bacon was OKAY (actually, for turkey bacon it was pretty good tbh) but not as good as actual bacon would have been . . . but I wasn't going to pay $1.25 to upcharge when I already had bacon on my burger. I can also see how some people thought the service was maybe less good. While our server was mostly pretty great, she did kind of forget about us halfway through our meal as we sat with no water. We drink a lot of water at dinner so, it would have been nice to have refills. The cafe has a small shop attached that has a lot of specialty goods: gluten-free items and what I fondly think of as "hippie food." Great tea section and some bulk spices. Some of the coolers are marked "CAFE ONLY" which is a little unprofessional and confusing, but hey. So, I feel like they have a few things to get together, but they're heading in the right direction. I'd come back for sure.

Pretty solid cocktails. Came here on a whim but it's better than expected. The Oddfellow (bourbon, mint, lime, ginger syrup) is refreshing on a warm day nice patio. Reluctant to give 5 star, service isn't awesome. Younger girls serving and don't seem to know the menu at all. Some gentlemen were requesting some kind of bread to snack on with beers, the girl was highly confused and had to go ask someone inside about it. Just funny. Bar took a while to prepare the drink too, but they weren't busy at all. Solid cocktails though.

I'm giving this three stars because of the service. I've never written a bad review on a business because I know mistakes happen. I've been going there for years since I moved to Columbus. The last time I went, I was made to feel very uncomfortable by the manager. She was very rude in her approach as she explained the ordering process, so much to the point that I had to leave. I'll go in to order my food but I won't sit to eat anymore and get stares all day from her. This was my first time ordering a meat item so make sure you explain how you really want your meat/burger if you don't want your burger coming out pink. Other than that, Food is great , vegan/vegetarian option, owners are awesome, it's just horrible service from the manager.

As a local restaurant Half Moon Cafe offers not your standard small town cuisine but rather offers fresh and locally sourced food. Trust me it's very good but the pricing and lack of coordination between the kitchen and wait staff will have you quite literally waiting and waiting. Today isn't an isolated incident my order after waiting nearly 25 minutes was never even placed. The staff is nice but this common issues with order accuracy and wait times are of major issue here. Beware if you're looking for a smooth dining experience. But the food is Good

I have long wanted to come here and try. And so I brought my crew for breakfast. I think it is a great restaurant serving good food. Because I make my own coffee, I can say that I won't be coming here for specialty coffee, however for breakfast I will certainly do. I don't understand the low rating of this place. We were served well and we liked the food we had for breakfast. For me what matters when we went there was I liked the food I'm served (although I don't think its extraordinary) and I like the service I received.

Harvest moon is a great stop if you're looking for a healthy and hearty meal. I had their bison burger with brie cheese and was very impressed with the savory sweet burger. I've also gotten one of their rice bowls and enjoyed it very much and their Gouda cheese ball appetizer is something we come back for every time. Their cocktails look delicious I can't wait to try them next time I'm in!

I love this place! I've been here a few times, and the food is delicious. The staff is friendly, helpful and more than accommodating. They offer selections and substitutions for restricted diets. There is a small "health food store" next to the bar. Oh yeah, did I mention there is a bar? And baristas? I just ordered a latte and it's giving me my groove back. I haven't eaten anything bad yet. Everything has been delicious... I'll repost if that changes.

Have now been to Harvest Moon a little more than a handful of times. Have done breakfast, lunch and dinner and have never had a bad thing. Yes, you will wait a little longer on your food than normal but you get that with a scratch kitchen and it is totally worth it. The desserts are delicious too!! The only gripe I have is that they only have one high chair for kiddos and we had to go elsewhere for dinner one time and on another visit, we passed our son around between us and his grandparents, so we could take turns eating, since the high chair was already in use. I know the place is not big but the fact that we have now been without a high chair on two occasions because it was being used, I wish they would order 1 or 2 more. Other than that, staff has always been friendly and fantastic and food is always delicious!

My husband and I went to Harvest Moon Cafe for the second time, the first was last summer on our way to pick strawberries and this time was for breakfast, just because. One difference we noticed right off the bat, you now order at the counter rather than being waited on, which was no problem at all. The service was extremely good and the food came out very fast. I also prefer to fill up my own coffee than have a waitress coming around too often to check. The coffee (rōst) was delicious, as was the fresh juice we ordered and the house-made ginger ale. All of their prices are really decent too, especially for being a farm-to-table restaurant ($7 for an omelet, $2.55 for a single pancake). Aside from the bacon which was $3.50 for two tiny slices, we felt like everything was fairly priced. My husband got the savory omelet with sourdough bread; his omelet was full and flavorful, the veggies inside (onions, mushrooms, garlic, it seems that our's had spinach or greens instead of asparagus) were generous and it was tasty. The thing that we'd write home about is the heavenly hotcake! (Love that you can buy just one for $2.55- you don't have to commit to a whole stack of them) This dessert-y breakfast item was so delicious. Fluffy, light and lemony with a hint of lavender in the maple syrup. Highly recommend at least one on the side. We also tried the gluten free cakes, which are ginormous and delicious. We had a great experience in the cafe and will surely be back for pancakes, coffee, and to try something new.

Been there twice now. The first visit was not good but figured it may have been an off day, so we tried them again this past weekend. Another bad visit. Service is poor and the wait staff is unfriendly. You could tell they didnt want to be there. Their mood was so bad we were weary to ask for things...it actually brought us down. Place is rather dirty and dingy and the food is marginal at best. This place only survives because it the only place that caters latte to the hipsters of the area. They can have it, we wont be going back.

Some cafés are really coffeehouses with food. Other cafés are more like restaurants with a good supply of coffee. I was here once a number of years ago and remember it being more like the former; when I came last night, it had shifted toward the latter. I don't know whether it's a daytime/nighttime thing or the passage of time and refocusing, but I'm glad I brought my appetite with me. It was too far a drive for me not to stay merely because it wasn't what I remembered. They were packed with business on this Friday evening. There was only one table left, and it was large enough to seat six, possibly eight. Nonetheless, the server had no problem handing it over to little old me. Even when I apologized and emphasized that I'd be happy to share it if needed, he sort of went, "Pfft, don't worry about it." Course about two minutes later, a couple had sat down at the other end of the table of their own accord anyway. That made me feel like less of a mooch, actually. Welcome, friends. There was a happy hour going on until 7pm that affected the prices of beer and appetizers; I forget exactly what the discount was, but it would have been nice if I'd been ordering either beer or appetizers. Instead, I ordered tea and the mango-peach mahi-mahi off of the dinner menu. The server brought out a large, pretty wooden tray of tea options that included a few black, a few herbal, and a green sencha. The fish came over rice with a mild mango-peach salsa and sauce. Every component of the dish tasted pleasant. The fish was thick and was cooked nicely. The rice was creamier than I might have preferred, but it might be to others' taste. The mango-peach was not as strongly flavored as I expected, and I wished there was a little bit more of it on the plate to make up for that, but it was still not bad at all. It was sometimes difficult to get the server's attention, but he was consistently gracious and helpful whenever I eventually did. I can attribute the slowness to how busy the restaurant was, and it actually worked for me. I had a few books with me (since I was expecting the more coffeehouse-with-food thing than the reverse), and I was left to read undisturbed after my food was done, with no interruptions and no pressure, and with an offer of more water for my tea. A live guitarist at the other end of the restaurant provided appropriate background music and combined with an engrossing book, a bottomless teacup, and the white noise of a room full of other diners. All in all, the vibe worked.

Yummy! Really good food...really good tea! This is such a cute place. The food combinations are far from the norm, for example: steak and brie sandwich, kale and quinoa salad, bison burger with an egg...all are delicious! FYI-the harvest tea (black tea, orange juice, and lemon juice) is bottomless!!!!

I ate breakfast here on a Tuesday morning. I was expecting more. I ordered a $7 breakfast burrito and a $4 glass of orange juice(poured from the grocery store container). Neither was good. They are obviously trying to be the Canal Winchester version of Northstar Cafe. They failed. Harvest Moon is in business because it's on High St in Canal. They should be thankful for the lack of competition. They wouldn't last two months on High St. in the short north.

Nice little place to grab a lite meal and not feel guilty. They have a great selection for vegetarians. The atmosphere is always nice and quiet. Give it a try and you just might find a new favorite place.

If you want to be a bar... be a bar.
